Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University Faculty Diversity Advisory Council (FDAC)
The History of the Faculty Diversity Advisory Council:
- An external consultant was brought in to guide the SOM on how to enhance faculty diversity.
- The Faculty Diversity Advisory Council was established in December 2012.
- In February 2013, the Council was provided its charge by the Dean of the SOM.
The Dean's Charge to the Faculty Diversity Advisory Council:
- Conduct diversity assessment across all SOM departments
- Develop a SOM-wide diversity plan as well as tactical diversity initiatives Advise departments on diversity related issues
- Support departments to develop departmental-specific diversity plans
- Establish a timeline for diversity plan implementation
- Track departmental and SOM’s progress
- Evaluate departmental and SOM success in achieving SOM diversity plan goals/objectives
