Why Stony Brook? I grew up on Long Island and initially I did not know if I wanted to return here for residency after being away for both undergraduate and medical school. That all changed when I interviewed at Stony Brook. I found a program that values every individual and cares about their wellbeing both at work and in their personal life. I also found a program that values education and teaching as a core principle which was really important to me. Everyone here wants to help you learn and succeed and I felt like this was the program I belonged at. In addition to all of that, I get to be close to my family again and that is something I am very happy about. Overall, Stony Brook ticked every box for me, even ones I didn't know I wanted before coming here. Every day I am reminded by the people I work with that I made the right choice.
