Students who join the research groups of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology training faculty who are also members of the Chemical Biology Training Program (CBTP; see list below), and who would like to receive training at the biochemistry: chemistry interface, may apply to the CBTP. In addition to the courses required by the Molecular Genetics and Microbiology Graduate Program, students in the CBTP take two additional classes in chemical biology (CHE 542 and CHE 543) and participate in a spring seminar course and annual retreat of the Institute of Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery. While in the CBTP, students continue to meet the requirements of the Molecular Genetics and Microbiology Program and the degree that is conferred once all requirements have been met is a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology.
