The Department of Neurology at SUNY Stony Brook, has multiple positions available for Adult Neurologists. The Department has accredited training programs in neurology, child neurology, clinical neurophysiology and vascular neurology, and joins with several other departments within the framework of the Stony Brook Neurosciences Institute to provide a wide range of clinical and research programs. Stony Brook University Hospital is the only academic medical center and Level 1 trauma center in Suffolk County (population 1.5 million), located on Long Island's scenic north shore within a highly-ranked public school district (Three Village Central).
Given broad institutional plans to further strengthen an already strong neurosciences community, Neurology is currently in a position to recruit both physician-investigators, and clinician-educators. We intend to build up clinical programs in several areas, including movement disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, neurointensive care, vascular neurology, autism, and general neurology, the latter with an emphasis on safety/quality initiatives and clinical outcomes. On the research front we aim to strengthen translational research capabilities, and welcome applications from candidates with strengths in either bench research or clinical research.
