Research Interests
Thomas is interested in studying the functional anatomy, growth dynamics, and taxonomic relationships of extinct archosaurs across major evolutionary transitions. His Master’s degree examined evolutionary trends in theropod dinosaurs through osteohistological analysis and growth history reconstruction. Thomas’ thesis focused on using these techniques to investigate anatomical variation among specimens of the dromaeosaurid Deinonychus antirrhopus.
To augment his laboratory studies, Thomas also participates in several ongoing field projects. His work involves multiple sites within the Early Cretaceous Period from the Cloverly Formation of Wyoming and Montana and the Lakota Formation of South Dakota.
