I am a rising 3rd year Ph.D. student in the Molecular and Cellular Biology program at Stony Brook University. My current research is focused on studying the molecular mechanisms that dictate ciliogenesis. Through the SBMS program and with the guidance of Drs. Hussein Foda and Catherine Kier, I hope to relate my preclinical data to the patient population to elucidate and characterize the roles of specific ciliary proteins in modifying the ciliary membrane during cilia formation using primary cultures of diseased human airway cells and tissue samples from patients with respiratory disorders, such as cystic fibrosis.
