Folnetti was raised on Long Island, NY. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Biological Sciences, specializing in Physiology. As an SBMS trainee, he will characterize the relationship between breast cancer patients receiving standard care neoadjuvent chemotherapy, their potential resistance to the therapy, and their plasma-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). The ultimate goal of the project is to identify EV-based biomarkers involved in cancer progression and/or chemo-resistance in this breast cancer patient population at high risk of relapse and metastatic disease.
