I am entering my second year as a PhD student in the Biomedical Informatics Department, a relatively new program at Stony Brook. My concentration is in clinical informatics, a field which uses data analytics and machine learning for clinical applications. I received my bachelor's degree in biology and international relations/global health. After graduating, I worked in a breast cancer lab at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and learned to program in my free time. Combining programming with my other backgrounds, I now work on a variety of interdisciplinary projects in clinical informatics and public health informatics. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing the ukulele, 3D printing, and studying Arabic.
Short project description:
I will use machine learning methods to develop tools for improving diabetes-related care in the inpatient setting and prevent healthcare-acquired diabetes complications.
