Born and raised on Long Island, I received my BS in Biology at Stony Brook while working on an undergraduate research project focused on neural inflammation of central respiratory controllers in the laboratory of Dr. Irene Solomon. Since then, I have remained with the same laboratory to pursue a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics. My project focus has shifted specifically to Parkinson’s disease and its impact on neural respiratory control and serotonergic function. I have also picked up an interest in computer programming, and applying what I learn to create algorithms that can help me better analyze and understand my data. In my clinical project, I hope to explore some of the respiratory abnormalities of PD during sleep cycles and their correlations with changes to brainstem morphology. Outside of the lab, I am an avid snowboarder and gamer, and I occasionally dabble in arts and crafts.
