SBMS Trainee: Philip Tubiolo
I am a PhD student on the Medical Physics Track in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. I completed mybachelor's and master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University, performing functional neuroimagingresearch under Dr. Jared Van Snellenberg in the Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychosis (CNaP) Lab in the Department ofPsychiatry and Behavioral Health. My current work in the CNaP Lab focuses on elucidating neural mechanisms ofcognitive impairment in human patients with Schizophrenia using functional magnetic resonance imaging. In particular, Iam investigating the role of basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical loop dysfunction during engagement withcognitively demanding stimuli in producing working memory deficits in patients with Schizophrenia.
