Program Highlights

The Nutrition Division within the Department of Family, Population and Preventive Medicine, Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, offers a fully online Master of Science in Nutrition degree program (36 credits).

Students may select from three course sequence options:

Generalist

This is the broadest concentration, likely for students interested in non-acute settings or in non-clinical settings.

Advanced Nutrition Therapy & Critical Care

This concentration provides advanced training in nutrition therapy for acute/critical inpatient care. It is most appropriate for registered dietitians seeking to advance their knowledge in the evolving and often controversial area of critical care for both adult and pediatric populations. Note: Admission into this concentration requires submission of a DPD Verification statement.

Integrative Nutrition Therapy

The growing interest and evidence-base for integrative nutrition therapy warrants a concentration focused on this area. This concentration is appropriate for students interested in applying food and the judicious use of supplements to optimize health and prevent disease progression. Note: Admission into this concentration requires submission of a DPD Verification statement.

In order to practice as a Registered Dietitian, completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship program is required.  This graduate nutrition program does NOT satisfy ANY of the DPD requirements that would enable you to apply to a Dietetic Internship program or to sit for the RD exam. For more information on becoming a RD or nutritionist, please visit the AND website here or take a look RDN fact sheet.

If you are interested in becoming a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, please check our our other program options.
