The 16-month Master of Science in Professional Nutrition Practice (MS PNP) program at Stony Brook’s Renaissance School of Medicine prepares students to sit for the national registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Our comprehensive program combines online course work with supervised experiential learning at clinical, public health/community, and foodservice management sites.

Flexibility

We provide flexibility with both full-time and part-time options, online classes and onsite or distance clinical training sites.

Students can complete rotations at Stony Brook Medicine and sites in the surrounding area, or choose to stay in the geographic location of their choice and self-identify experiential learning sites.

Program Concentrations

Students in the MS-PNP program can customize their coursework by pursuing a concentrations in Advanced Nutrition Therapy & Critical Care or Integrative Nutrition or opting into the generalist track

Credits Required

50-Credit Program:

  • 30 credits of didactic course work
  • 20 credits of supervised experiential coursework to be completed at clinical sites

  • Full-time 16 months

The Dietetic Internship Program at Stony Brook Medicine, at State University of New York, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic
