This program identifies the sites/preceptors for the students for all supervised experiential learning courses. Students will be placed at Stony Brook University Hospital or an affiliated hospital.
Highlights of the Onsite Track:
- Housed in a large Nutrition Division integrated with the Renaissance School of Medicine and Stony Brook University Hospital. Students routinely interact with physicians, medical residents, nurses and nurse practitioners at interdisciplinary case conferences, grand rounds, walking rounds and informal educational activities
- Farm to hospital food service integration. Produce is harvested from the Nutrition Division's own hospital rooftop farm.
- Malnutrition training
- Involved in robust CQI projects and clinical research projects
- Access to SBU library systems, e-journals, and e-databases (such as Natural Standard)
Each intern is required to have his/her own form of transportation, as many rotations will be completed outside of Stony Brook University Hospital. Not all interns will complete their nutrition therapy rotation at Stony Brook University Hospital. All rotations are within 50 miles of Stony Brook University.
