Mechanical Thrombectomy for Ischemic Stroke

Mechanical thrombectomy has become the preferred method of treatment for large vessel occlusions causing ischemic stroke. There are two types of devices used to extract the occlusive thrombus and open (or, recanalize) the occluded blood vessel - aspiration catheters and stent retrievers. We conduct both in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate the recanalization efficiency of these devices.
