It
usually presents quickly with the rapid onset of pain, red eye, and
loss of vision. Other symptoms may include foggy or hazy vision,
sensitivity to light, nausea, and vomiting.
Emergency
treatment is essential to prevent vision loss. Topical medications
assist in lowering the pressure. Systemic medications can also be used
in the emergency situation. Laser iridotomy treatment is a frequent option.
Risk factors include hyperopia (farsightedness) and cataracts.
Less common forms may present with intermittent headache, like migraines, or the absence of any symptoms.
