This is an uncommon form of glaucoma. It frequently occurs
after complications of eye surgery or an acute attack. African-American
patients are especially prone to this form of glaucoma.
The onset is insidious, like open-angle glaucoma. Gonioscopy is essential to the diagnosis and management.
Treatment
includes laser iridotomy and topical medications. Due to the difficulty
in arriving at the initial diagnosis, surgery is frequently necessary.
The key to treatment is early diagnosis and aggressive therapy.
