Burnout: Taking Care of YOUR Personal Well Being
With all of the recent research on physician burnout that has been published, it has become very apparent that taking good care of your self is equally as important as taking good care of your patients. The consequences of neglecting important personal, emotional and social needs include compassion fatigue, exhaustion, dissatisfaction with work, and depressed mood. Below is a link to a “Quality of Life Scale” that may be helpful for you to begin to think about how you feel and whether or not you want to make some changes. If, after completing the scale, you wish to confidentially review it with someone and discuss some options, please contact Dr. Adam Gonzalez adam.gonzalez@stonybrookmedicine.edu. (read more)
