Located in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral at the Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine the CNaP Lab uses cognitive neuroscience methodologies, especially functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) of the human brain and cognitive task performance data, in order to study the neurobiology of cognitive deficit and psychotic symptoms in patients with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders.
While our primary focus is on understanding working memory deficits in patients with schizophrenia, we also have ongoing research into fMRI pre- and post-processing methods development, the latent structure of working memory in healthy individuals, abnormalities in resting state functional connectivity in patients, and auditory processing abnormalities in schizophrenia.
