Expectations by Year:
PGY-1 & 2
- Decide on a research topic & find a faculty mentor
- Contact Dr. Heslin or Dr. Newton if you need help finding a topic or mentor
- Perform a literature search on your topic
- Decide on a research question & hypothesis
- Complete your CITI training
- Present your research idea to Drs. Heslin, Newton, or Singer
- You will be asked to provide: title of your project, research question, hypothesis, literature review results, and methods.
- Write & submit your IRB
- After your IRB is approved, begin your project and data collection
PGY-3
- Collect & analyze your data
- Write an abstract and submit it to a regional or national conference (optional)
- Create a poster and submit a draft for faculty feedback (mid May)
- Present your poster at our Resident Research Day (mid June)
