Lory Bright-Long, MD Appointed Medical Director of Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center of Long Island

March 6, 2015 - Department Chair Ramin Parsey, MD, PhD announced the appointment of Assistant Professor Lory Bright-Long, MD as the Medical Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center of Long Island (ADAC-LI). Dr. Bright-Long is the Director of the Department’s Geriatric Fellowship Program. She provides psychiatric consultation to the Long Island State Veterans Home and sees outpatient geriatric patients in Putnam Hall.

Dr. Bright-Long helped write the original application for the ADAC in 1988 and served as its Director until 1994. She was succeeded by Gayatri Devi, MD, who served as Medical Director until 1997 when Mark Sedler, MD, MPH took over. The ADAC is one of 8 Centers of Excellence in New York State for the diagnosis and care of patients with Alzheimer’s Disease. The Center assists physicians with the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease. It serves as a regional resource for information about Alzheimer’s Disease and is an important source of information, reassurance, and support for family members. Darlene Jyringi, MPS is the Program Director.

Dr. Bright-Long received her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo and completed her residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Stony Brook. In 2011 The Sisters of St. Joseph honored her for her work as Medical Director of the Maria Regina Residence. In making the announcement, Dr. Parsey said, Dr. Bright-Long’s experience and expertise in the diagnosis and care of geriatric patients makes her an excellent choice for this position.”
