A Good Match for the Residency Program

The 2012 Match Day was a good one for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science residency program. All six positions were filled in the main match, including four applicants ranked in the top 15 by the department.

“We were able to attract excellent medical students from very good schools to our program,” said Michael Schwartz, MD the residency program director, who pointed out that the program at Stony Brook competes for students with some of the most prestigious institutions in the country. “This year was especially competitive because the number of seniors at U.S medical schools applying for programs in psychiatry was lower than in prior years,” Dr. Schwartz noted.

The residents (listed in alphabetical order) joining the program in 2012 and their medical schools are:
