Rotations/Required Activities

38 Weeks of Rotations
  • 2 Weeks Orientation
  • 26 Weeks of Clinical Rotations:
    • 10-week Public Health/Outpatient rotation at Stony Brook Medicine Medical Center, including WIC, Bariatrics, World Trade Center Health and Wellness Program, Stony Brook Heights Rooftop Farm and Stony Brook Food Farmacy
    • 11-week of Clinical Nutrition Therapy rotation at Stony Brook University Hospital or an affiliated hospital
    • 4- week of Long-term care clinical rotation
    • 64 hour longitudinal research rotation
    • 1-week virtual renal rotation
  • 7-week of Food Service rotation including 4 weeks food service management and 3 weeks school food service
  • 3-week elective rotation to allow further development of interests such as private practice, athletics, pediatrics and the neonatal intensive care unit. 
Required Activities
  • 61 hours of Orientation and Seminar
  • RD examination review sessions

Upon successful completion of the Dietetic Internship Program and attainment of a graduate degree, interns are eligible to sit for the registration examination.
