Joseph Cafone, M.D.

Dr. Joseph “Joey” Cafone is a graduate of the St. George’s School of Medicine in Grenada.  He graduated from George Washington University with a B.S. degree in biomedical engineering and biophysics.  As an undergraduate student, he served as a founding member, creative director, and events coordinator for the GW chapter of Invisible Children United, an effort to raise awareness about Joseph Koney and the Lord Resistance Army’s human rights atrocities in East and Central Africa.  He also participated in research on the use of dual epicardial fluorescence imaging as a method to detect myocardial ischemia.  In medical school, he served as the Chair of Service and Humanism for the Student Government Association and also served as an English as a Second Language Instructor back in his hometown of Morristown, NJ.  An avid cyclicst, Dr. Cafone has participated in a number of road races and is a huge fan of all things New Jersey.  His interests also include running, cooking, and home-brewing wine and beer. He plans to pursue a fellowship in rheumatology after graduation.  He current serves as our patient safety resident for the residency program, which we are greatly indebted to his service.
