Chiaki Nakata, M.D.

Dr. Chiaki Nakata comes to us from Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai.  Dr. Nakata has been involved in a wide breadth of research projects from developing an anti-cancer vaccine and immunotherapy for Type I diabetes to conducting a cross-sectional survey on population level.  She spent seven weeks in Israel investigating ethnic differences in childhood obesity and was involved in a gastric cancer screening outreach project at Icahn—the results of which were presented at the 2016 American College of Gastroenterology Meeting.  Dr. Nakata is committed to providing care for underserved populations and graciously volunteers her time as a Primary Care Physician under the supervision of an attending at the East Harlem Health Outreach Program in New York City. Her goal as a physician is to treat patients as people, contribute to the expanding breadth of knowledge, provide excellent care, and empower patients to make their own decisions.  We are pleased to have Dr. Nakata on our team and look forward to watching her achieve her dream.
