Deborah Boktor, M.D.

Deborah Boktor, M.D. is a graduate of the 6-year BS/MD program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine.  Her career goal is to be a hospitalist treating both adult and pediatric patients in an academic setting. Dr. Boktor is a native of Egypt and speaks fluent Arabic. It was an early childhood experience at Cairo’s El Noor Boarding School for the Blind where Dr. Boktor recalls her passion for working with children with disabilities was sparked.  Years later, during her medicine rotation, Dr. Boktor found her interactions with adult patients to be equally stimulating and rewarding.  She found herself eager to learn about diabetes and became involved in the creation of a diabetes education video that would help adult patients better control their disease.  Through her varied encounters with both children and adults, Dr. Boktor discovered her true calling in Med-Peds.  In addition to the time she dedicates to her studies, Dr. Boktor volunteered with St. Jude’s Up Till Dawn; Freedom Fire; Pediatrics Interest Group; and Sojourner’s Clinic, a student-run free clinic in Kansas City.  She also contributes her time to FTFT, a Coptic Orthodox Christian organization offering meals to the homeless and visiting the elderly at nursing homes.  We are pleased and excited to welcome Dr. Boktor to our Med-Peds residency program.

Why Med-Peds? I realized I loved treating babies just as much as grandparents and I wanted to be euqally trained in both fields!

Why Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University? I was looking for a program that provides equally strong training in both pediatrics and medicine and that was definitely true at Stony Brook. Also, I genuinely had a good time on my interview day and felt verycomfortable with the residents and faculty, so I knew it'd be a good fit for me.  What do you plan on doing when finished residency (if known)?Med-Peds Hospitalist Outside interests: Reading, cooking, going to the beach, spending time with family.
