Simon Chang, DO

Simon Chang, DO graduated from Western University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and earned his Bachelors at the University of California, Davis.  He is a Rose Hill Scholar, and a member of the Los Angeles County Medical Association, California Medical Association, Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California, and the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs. Dr. Chang’s research endeavors include an exchange study at a Swedish research center where he investigated the immunomodulation effect of endoglycosidase and other pathogenicity factors of Group A Streptococcus.  He has also volunteered time with the Western U Student Health Insurance Committee and as a trainer for the Chinese Basketball Association.  As the Founder and CEO of a startup healthcare IT company, Dr. Chang hopes to provide medication price transparency for patients and physicians.  Dr. Chang is excited about a career in MedPeds because it requires knowledge of various specialties and provides the opportunity to care for patients of all ages.  His goal is to be a primary care physician who will bring positive contributions to the field of medicine through his passion for innovation, caring for the underserved, and compassion for patients.  Dr. Chang is fluent in Chinese and his interests include healthcare policy and economics, basketball, travel, history, early-phase biotech investing, and world politics.  Welcome Dr. Chang.

Why Med-Peds?: I love the fact that I would be able to take care of medically complex patients regardless of their age. 

Why Stony Brook?: The program director (JT) made a great impression on me and I believe I will have the support I need in order to excel. It is truly like a family here!

What do you plan on doing when finished residency (if known)? Healthcare Management or Primary Care or fellowship in Medical Genetics
