Research Interests

I'm interested in the dysregulation of transcriptional control that contributes to the development of hematopoietic cancers. In particular, I am interested in defining and understanding the various transcriptional activator and coactivator proteins that are essential for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Using a combination of functional genetics and genomic approaches, we have identified specific subunits of the Mediator complex that are required for the viability of AML cell but not of non-cancerous cell types. I am currently exploring the relationship between Mediator and Brd4, a recently identified therapeutic target in AML.
