01.07.2026 - Big congratulations to Isabel Sakarin (first author), Cyrus Clabeaux, and Lia Parkin on their recently published manuscript in ACS Infectious Disease titled, "Measuring Membrane Fluidity in Live Mycobacteria Reveals Subcellular Lateral Variation And Pole-Selective Responses to Mycomembrane Perturbation." This work reports on our group's recently developed pipeline for quantifying membrane fluidity in live mycobacteria, revealing subcellular lateral variation and pole-specific responses to mycomembrane fluidity.
10.10.2025 - Congratulations to Lia Parkin and Kindra Becker (co-first authors), Julian, Aseem, Neetika, and Mary Lou on their published work in ACS Infectious Disease titled, "Metabolic Tagging Reveals Surface-Associated Lipoproteins in Mycobacteria." This work reports on the metabolic incorporation of several modified fatty acids as a facile method of adding chemical groups that enable downstream applications such as detection and enrichment of lipid-modified proteins. Application of this method provided evidence for lipoproteins at the mycobacterial cell surface.
08.08.2025 - Congratulations William Ozburn on presenting his work on intrabacterial lipid inclusions as part of the Simons Summer Research Program for high school students! Incredible job this summer, Will!
08.03.2025 - Congratulations Dr. Jessica Seeliger on receiving the Robbee Baker Kosak Leadership Prize from the Hertz Foundation! This award recognizes an individual who embodies transformational leadership and inspires excellence from their community.
07.21.2025 - Congratulations Dr. Jessica Seeliger on receiving a renewal on the NIH Training Grant that funds the Chemical Biology Training Program Grant (CBTP). CBTP, which Dr. Seeliger co-directs with Dr. Elizabeth Boon, will support 11 graduate students interested in research at the interface of chemistry and biology. Read more about CBTP here.
01.21.2025 - The Seeliger lab gives two big talks today! Isabel Sakarin presents her work on mycobacterial membrane fluidity at the 2025 Mycobacterial Cell Wall and Replication Meeting. Kindra Becker presents her research proposal titled "Follow the Yellow Brick Road: Understanding the Mycobacterium abscessus cysteine desulferase-encapsulin complex in sulfur storage and metabolism" to her thesis committee as part of her departmental third meeting.
