Stony Brook’s Kidney Transplant Department was established in 1979 and performed its first transplant in 1980. It is the longest active transplant program on Long Island with the highest transplant rate in the Region. We perform 75-85 transplants each year, catering to both the adult and pediatric population, as well as both living and deceased donor transplants. There have been over 1500 transplants performed at the Stony Brook Transplant Program. We work closely with our transplant surgeons to provide state of the art care to our transplant recipients.
Nephrology Fellows evaluate kidney transplant patients both in the inpatient and outpatient setting and also perform transplant kidney biopsies under our supervision. Stony Brook Kidney Transplant program prides itself in delivering world class, patient and family centered care close to home.
