Research Interests:
My previous research experience has been in colon cancer racial health disparities, testing novel fluoropyrimidine chemotherapeutics, and dietary modulation of the FAS apoptotic pathway in synergy with fluoropyrimidines. Additionally, I have worked on the microRNA-34a/p53 tumor suppressor pathway and characterizing its differences between Caucasian American and African American colon cancer cells. To this end, I am currently interested in continuing in the field of gastrointestinal research, focusing on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), its causes, and its modulation particularly at the dietary level. I hope to study the effects of microbiome integrity on the gut-brain axis and potential relationships with IBD.
