Research Interests:
My previous research experience has been in colon cancer racial health disparities, testing novel fluoropyrimidine chemotherapeutics, and dietary modulation of the FAS apoptotic pathway in synergy with fluoropyrimidines. Additionally, I have worked on the microRNA-34a/p53 tumor suppressor pathway and characterizing its differences between Caucasian American and African American colon cancer cells. To this end, I am currently interested in continuing in the field of gastrointestinal research, focusing on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), its causes, and its modulation particularly at the dietary level. My focus is on deciphering the link between dietary protein, microbiota, mucosal immunity and IBD pathogenesis.
