Faculty Recruitment: Dr. Syed Hoda

Dr. Syed Hoda joined our department as the latest new recruit to the Surgical Pathology service on September 1st, 2011. Dr Hoda will serve as the Chief of the Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology and will also participate in the general surgical pathology and autopsy services. 

Dr. Hoda earned his medical degree at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland and completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  Dr. Hoda’s professional interests include bone & soft tissue pathology, surgical pathology, digital pathology, laboratory administration, electronic medical record integration, and point of care testing. He is the 2011 recipient of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Futurescape Grant Award and has been a frequent participant at the annual meetings of the CAP.

During his residency, he proposed, designed, and successfully integrated a new Laboratory Management rotation into the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s Pathology residency training program. Most recently (July 2011) Dr. Hoda completed a clinical fellowship in Orthopedic Pathology at one of the premier bone and soft tissue programs in the nation: New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases.
