Don't know what specialty to choose for your future?
We offer a rich list of resources available within the medical school as well as specific programs, such as the Careers in Medicine Program and several Specialty Lunches panel discussions to help you make your specialty choices. We STRONGLY encourage you to do the first two sections of the Careers in Medicine program before you enter your third year. Make sure you consider your personal interests, values and lifestyle preferences before you decide on a specialty. Discuss your thoughts with your core advisor and with several secondary advisors in the specific specialty you are interested in. If you would like to talk to residents at Stony Brook or Alumni, we can help you. Make sure to attend the Career Day event hosted by the Alumni Office.
