The basic science research laboratory of the Department of Dermatology is located on level 7 of the Basic Science Tower on the Renaissance School of Medicine campus. This 3,000 sq.ft. laboratory, led by Dr. Jiang Chen, MD, Vice-chair of Research, is equipped with state-of-the-art molecular biology, cell biology, and imaging instrumentation. Basic research projects include skin morphogenesis, hair follicle biology, dermal connective tissue biology, wound healing, and skin cancers. Disease mechanisms underlying a number of skin and hair disorders are also investigated.
