The goal of Dr. Amin’s current research study is to investigate the neuro-inflammatory changes in patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the effect of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

This is a collaborative research study, with Stony Brook University as the coordinating, primary site. Subjects are veterans from the Northport VA Medical Center who have a formal diagnosis of PTSD and moderate to severe OSA.

Brain PET and MRI scans will be acquired on a simultaneous PET/MRI scanner. Participants will be treated with nasal CPAP and then followed up with repeat PET/MRI scanning.

This is a work in progress.
