This program requires that students identify their own sites/preceptors for all supervised experiential learning courses. Students must have a Food Service Systems & Management at admission and continue to secure sites and preceptors before/during the program. It is the responsibility of the student to secure a new site if the Program is unable to secure a Clinical Affiliation agreement with the site.
Highlights of the Distance Track:
- Housed in a large Nutrition Division integrated with the Renaissance School of Medicine and Stony Brook University Hospital. The faculty and staff contribute to the curriculum.
- Each student will be required to present every other week for a 30 minute video conference with the Program Coordinator or Associate Director to assess attainment of competencies and to provide feedback.
- Students prepare their own schedules so needed weeks or days off can easily be accommodated, as needed
- Involved in robust CQI projects and clinical research projects
- Access to SBU library systems, e-journals, and e-databases (such as Natural Standard)
