As part of the "You Got Caught Being Safe" recognition program, the Healthcare Safety Group within the Department of Environmental Health and Safety acknowledged Laura Birney and Kathleen DaSilva for assisting in the development of a safety culture at Stony Brook University Hospital. In the Pathology Grossing Lab, both were recognized for completing numerous corrective actions, working with Pathology Resident, Dr. Sharon Secola, to prevent contaminated sharps injuries when working with pins, scissors and other instrumentation.
