June 2009: Dr. Martha Furie, Professor in the Department of Pathology and the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, has been elected Vice President for the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP) for 2009. She will subsequently serve as President-Elect for 2010 and as President of the ASIP for 2011. The ASIP is dedicated to the discovery, advancement, and dissemination of knowledge in experimental pathology and related disciplines and appointment to this position in the ASIP is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed in the field. Dr. Furie's appointment to this prestigious position brings great credit to the Stony Brook University School of Medicine.
