I am pleased to announce the recruitment of Dr. Chiraag Patel. Dr. Patel earned a BS in Management from Tulane University and then his MD from St. Georges University School of Medicine. Dr. Patel subsequently next did his residency in Anatomic and Surgical Pathology here at Stony Brook Medicine and he then completed a clinical fellowship in Molecular Pathology at Colombia University School of Medicine, while concurrently earning his MBA from the Columbia Business School. Dr. Patel is certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Molecular Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. He has been recruited to serve as our Medical Chief of Molecular Pathology, in collaboration with our Technical Director of Molecular Pathology, Dr. Silvia Spitzer, to guide the development and implementation of next-gen sequencing and related technologies for individualized therapeutic interventions. Dr. Patel will also work with the Pathology Department Residency Program Director and with the Directors of the Selective Pathology and Hematopathology Fellowship programs to help us develop a Molecular Pathology Curriculum for training residents and clinical fellows in the Department of Pathology.
