Jignesh Patel, MD
Associate Professor, Department of Medicine
Dr. Patel is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook Renaissance School of Medicine. A graduate of Penn State, Dr. Patel received his medical degree from St. George’s University and completed his Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at Stony Brook. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Patel’s research interests and funding focus on optimization of outcomes in cardiac arrest. He has authored manuscripts in several journals including Resuscitation, Chest, American Journal of Cardiology, and Journal of Intensive Care Medicine and has presented his work at the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Heart Association scientific meetings. His work on oxygenation in cardiac arrest has been cited by the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, the 2020 International Consensus on CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science with Treatment Recommendations, and the 2021 European Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Dr. Patel also recently published one of the first human studies to assess the feasibility of inhaled nitric oxide administration in adults with in-hospital cardiac arrest.
Dr. Patel has completed an NIH K30 Clinical Research Fellowship, the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program, and a Masters in Science in Clinical Research. He also serves on the editorial board of PLOS One and as a reviewer for several high-impact peer-reviewed journals including Circulation, Annals of Internal Medicine, and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
