Welcome to the Stony Brook Hospital Medicine POCUS Fellowship program.
The Hospital Medicine POCUS Fellowship is a one-year fellowship tailored for hospitalists that are looking to attain expertise in basic and advanced point of care ultrasound. Stony Brook is the only institution in the region that offers a unique Hospital Medicine POCUS Fellowship and is a Center of Excellence in POCUS and advanced bedside echocardiography. The program is also tailored specifically for hospitalists that aim to grow into leaders in this emerging niche of internal medicine.
Goals of the fellowship include:
- Attain proficiency in basic and advanced point of care ultrasound
- Attain proficiency in bedside ultrasound-assisted procedures
- Attain proficiency in teaching point of care ultrasound to students, residents and advanced practitioners
- Learn how to establish, manage, and promote an academic ultrasound-guided procedure service
- Participate in POCUS research with the objective of presenting results at a national meeting
- Participate in hospital quality meetings that pertain to impact of POCUS use on patient safety & throughput
Our clinical site is Stony Brook University Hospital located in Stony Brook, New York. We are the only primary site academic facility in Suffolk County, serving a diverse population of nearly 1.5 million people over 2200 square miles.
