Dr. Ute Moll Highlighted on Cover of Cell

June 22 2012:  Dr. Ute Moll, Professor and Vice Chair for Experimental Pathology, has been highlighted today  on the cover of Cell for her landmark discovery that p53 can activate oxidative stress-induced necrosis by accumulation at the inner mitochondrial membrane and collapse of the electrochemical gradient.

As noted by Dr. Yusuf Hannun, Director of the Stony Brook Cancer Center, "this discovery by Dr. Moll and her colleagues in defining the mechanism of a new p53 function and its importance in necrotic injury and stoke is truly spectacular.”
