Welcome to the Stony Brook Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship
Our fellowship is dedicated to training our fellows to provide exceptional care to hospitalized children. We aim to train well-rounded fellows who are skilled in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to pediatric patients.
The fellowship is a two-year, ACGME-accredited program that provides education and hands-on experience with:
- Clinical Care
- Quality Improvement
- Patient Safety
- Research
- Medical Education
- Leadership
- Opportunities to Present at Conferences
Our graduates are well prepared for a pediatric hospital medicine career in both academic and community settings.
The clinical experience primarily takes place at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital in Stony Brook, NY. Fellows also rotate at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, NY for community experience. At Stony Brook, fellows collaborate with learners, sub-specialists, and interdisciplinary staff. At South Shore University Hospital, fellows gain experience in community practice—consulting for the ED and other services, attending deliveries, and caring for children in both the nursery and pediatric ward.
After completing the two-year fellowship, fellows are eligible for certification by the American Board of Pediatrics Sub-board of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Our dedicated faculty provides an exceptional educational experience, ensuring that fellows have the opportunity to explore their academic interests. We are excited that you are considering our program and look forward to hearing from you!

Mentorship
Our fellowship training program provides a faculty mentor for each trainee who assists in developing an individualized learning plan for the fellow, provides support for the fellow in addition to ongoing formative feedback essential to the trainee’s attainment of competency in the areas of clinical care, teaching, and scholarship. The mentor may be a neonatology faculty member or someone from outside the division of Hospitalists based upon the interests of each fellow.
Wellness
Wellness is an integral part of our fellowship program at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. The wellness programs supported by both our Graduate Medical Education (GME) office and the Department of Pediatrics are essential to the wellbeing of all of our trainees. GME hosts a Resident/Fellow Appreciation Week yearly, Welcome BBQs, Wellness Fairs, Puppy Socials, and so much more!
Our divisional wellness is of utmost importance to our program. Take a look at some of the photos below for some of the special events our fellows experience during their training at Stony Brook!
