Ari Chenery serves in two roles within the Department of Emergency Medicine: Medical Student Coordinator and Residency Program Coordinator. She supports educational and administrative needs, manages scheduling logistics, and assists with daily program operations.
Camelley Chen

Project Manager – Division of Quality and Informatics
Camelley Chen is a dedicated healthcare professional with a foundation in healthcare management and a commitment to driving high-quality, patient-centered care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Master of Health Administration from Stony Brook University. After completing her MHA, she served as an Administrative Fellow at Hackensack Meridian Health, supporting network-wide strategic priorities focused on operational and patient care optimization. She later served as a Project Coordinator, contributing to the development and implementation of Care Pathways to enhance patient safety, quality, and standardized workflows. Now back at Stony Brook Medicine, Camelley is a Project Manager within the Division of Quality and Informatics, where she coordinates strategic quality and informatics initiatives, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and supports improvements in emergency medicine quality measures and innovative, technology-driven solutions.
Carla Garofolo

Carla Garofolo is a Senior Administrative Assistant for the Department of Emergency Medicine and has been with Stony Brook Medicine since 2020. With nearly two decades of experience supporting clinical operations, she has developed a strong foundation in healthcare administration. Her responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day administrative functions, facilitating operational workflows, and supporting the needs of both clinical and administrative staff. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her strong work ethic, problem-solving ability, and steady presence in fast-paced situations. Carla is committed to supporting the department’s mission and contributing to a professional experience for everyone who interacts with the team.

Carmen Mendez serves as the Executive Administrative Assistant for the Emergency Medicine Department at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. She manages scheduling, communications, and administrative operations to support the physicians, PA's and leadership.

Cherrel Gaston, RN, MSN is the Nurse Manager of the new Stony Brook Immediate Care, where she oversees clinical operations and supports the delivery of high-quality, patient centered care. She is a registered nurse with 8 years of experience and holds a Master's degree in Nursing Leadership and Administration. She is passionate about team development, clinical excellence, and ensuring safe, compassionate care for the community.
Daniela Carnevalen

Since joining the Emergency Medicine Department in 2023, Daniela Carnevale was promoted to Executive Assistant in 2024. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University and a master's degree from Adelphi University. In her role, Daniela serves as the Executive Assistant to Dr. Imo Aisiku. She collaborates closely with Dr. Aisiku to ensure the operations run smoothly and efficiently. As the main point of contact for the Chairman’s Office, she prioritizes professionalism and confidentiality while providing strong administrative support for the departmental initiatives.

Deborah Le Blanc RN Clinical Research Nurse for the Department of Emergency Medicine since 2013. She has been a Stony Brook employee since 1999, and a nurse since 1981 working in a neighboring community hospital emergency department for 16 years.

Gayle Cooke has been a dedicated member of Stony Brook Medicine since 2009. She earned an associate’s degree in Secretarial Science from Farmingdale State University. In her role as Senior Administrative Assistant, Gayle provides comprehensive administrative support to the faculty within the department of Emergency Medicine.

As the Academic Associate Program Coordinator and Clinical Research Assistant, Juliana Hise supervises 24 undergraduate research interns in the Emergency Department. She graduated from Stony Brook University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and was an Academic Associate intern for 2 years. In her current role, she trains students to screen the Emergency Department for eligible patients, obtain informed consent, and educate patients on the purpose of each of the research studies.
Kevin Williams
Administrative Assistant – SB Southampton Hospital
Kevin Williams is the administrative assistant supporting the Emergency Department providers at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, ensuring the team stays on track with responsibilities and deadlines. He coordinates individual and group schedules, order supplies, and streamlines workflows to keep operations running efficiently. By handling the essential administrative and operational tasks, Kevin helps the ED team focus on providing excellent patient care. He has been in this role since 2019 and the Southampton ED since 2009.

Lauren Rozmus serves as the Senior Administrative Assistant for both the Office of Health, Equity & Advocacy and the Office of Faculty Affairs. She has worked in healthcare since graduating high school in 2013, beginning her career on the clinical side before gradually transitioning into administrative roles. Throughout Lauren’s career in healthcare administration, thus far she has held several positions, including lead assistant to practice manager, which has given her a broad and practical understanding of healthcare operations. This transition has allowed her to identify gaps in care, improve service line metrics, build meaningful relationships with patients and faculty, and support initiatives that advance patient-centered, equitable healthcare. As a Stony Brook University Alumni, Lauren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Women & Gender Studies, which continues to inform her approach to advocacy, collaboration, and systems-level improvement.

Viviana Andino has been working at Stony Brook Medicine since 2023. She began her healthcare career as a Clinical Support Assistant at Stony Brook Internists in the Office of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, where she worked for two years. She currently serves as a Senior Administrative Assistant in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Prior to transitioning into healthcare, Viviana spent nearly 12 years in the education system with the New York City Department of Education. During that time, she worked for 10 years as an Executive Administrative Assistant for the City Council of English Language Learners and for two years as a Project Manager in the Translation and Interpretation Unit. She holds an Associate degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, bringing a strong combination of technical knowledge, organizational expertise, and administrative leadership to her work..

Zhiuyan Zhang

Data Manager/Statistician
Zhiyuan received her MPH in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from Yale School of Public Health. Prior to joining Stony Brook team, she worked as a biostatistician at Yale School of Medicine for five years, specializing in the management of large and complex clinical data and in outcome analyses from observational studies, clinical trials, surveys, and disease and patient registries. Zhiyuan also holds an MD degree which informs her strong interest in applying data-driven approaches in healthcare and biomedical research. She is adept at collaboration and passionate about translating data into clinically meaningful insights.
