Dr. McMahon joined the faculty in 2004. After graduation from the Stony Brook Emergency Medicine residency in 2001, he worked in community hospitals. He joined the faculty to serve as assistant director of Emergency Medicine for University Hospital’s clinical affiliate, Peconic Bay Medical Center from 2005-2007. In 2008 he became the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Peconic Bay Medical Center overseeing the development of a major academic clinical site for the suburban and urban communities of Long Island.

Dr. McMahon returned to University Hospital in 2012 to pursue his interest in academic emergency medicine. He serves on numerous committees including the University Senate, the School of Medicine Admissions committee and the Institutional Review Board (IRB). He is the director of the Emergency Department’s Academic Associate program which provides undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in clinical research. Dr. McMahon is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor society.
