Naveen Mallangada is an undergraduate student pursuing a B.S./M.D. at Stony Brook University as part of the Stony Brook Scholars for Medicine Program. He has previously researched in the Weill-Cornell Medical College Endocrinology Department on prostate cancer mutations and 5αReductase deficiency. Naveen has also performed research in the Stony Brook University Department of Chemistry, where he investigated self-assembling polymers and methods of genetic information delivery as part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) supported project. He is a Stony Brook Dean’s List student in the Honors College and a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship. Naveen joined Dr. Mackenzie’s Lab in December 2013, and subsequently moved into Dr. Rigas’ lab group, continuing his exploration of the efficacy and mechanism of action of a novel agent in pancreatic cancer. Naveen’s future professional ambitions include becoming a Physician-Scientist and continuing involvement in cancer research.
