The Stony Brook Med-Peds Program includes clinical experiences at the Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Children's Hospital, Northport VA, and the Stony Brook Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Practice.

Stony Brook University Hospital

Stony Brook University Hospital is the areas only tertiary care center and regional trauma center. The Cancer Center is located next to the University Hospital that unites the Carol Baldwin Breast Center, Pediatric and Adult Oncological Care with state of the art technology, imaging and interventions if necessary. Our Heart Center is unrivaled, home to the most advanced diagnostic and interventional approaches to the care of patients with cardiovascular disease.  We have a very active GI and Liver Center, including a comprehensive endoscopy center, inflammatory bowel diseases center, and heartburn and esophageal center.

Our health system continues to show continued growth over the past several years.  The new Advanced Specialty Center opened in 2017 that brought together 30 different pediatric and adult specialties under one roof.  Stony Brook Medicine's network of hospitals has grown with two new community hospital affiliations – Southampton Hospital and Eastern Long Island Hospital - and more hospitals coming onboard in the next few years.  In 2016, Stony Brook Medicine and Mount Sinai Health System entered into an affiliation agreement to enhance clinical care through research and clinical collaborations that will have positive effects throughout the New York City Region.

To expand the educational mission of our university, the expansion also includes 12 new classrooms and a 300-seat auditorium. In addition, the new Medical and Research Translation (MART) opened up next door, which is our new home for bench-to-bedside translational research, biomedical imaging, biomedical informatics, and Stony Brook Cancer Center.

Stony Brook Children's Hospital

Move Day | Stony Brook Children's

With the establishment of Stony Brook Children's Hospital in 2010, our clinical services have shown continued growth and expansion.  We are the area's only pediatric tertiary care center, including our 24-hour pediatric emergency room, the Lourie Center Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis, the Center of Excellence for Cystic Fibrosis, and our state of the art Level III NICU.

We are excited about our new 225,000 square foot 10-story Hospital Pavilion that has opened, with 150 inpatient beds. Two floors are dedicated to the new Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. The Pavilion will also include a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, adolescent unit, procedure suite, hematology/oncology unit, medical/surgical units, and an expanded imaging department.
