The Department of Surgery offers public screenings for a range of medical conditions. These screenings are provided at Stony Brook University Hospital and at our satellite offices in East Setauket, Centereach, Smithtown, Commack, Patchogue, Hampton Bays, and Southampton — as well as at other locations throughout Long Island.
Our screening programs aim to identify the presence of the following conditions and, in particular, the early warning signs of them that if treated promptly may prevent their development:
- Breast cancer
- Colorectal cancer
- Melanoma
- Vascular disease
- Plus more!
Our screening programs not only provide free-of-charge or inexpensive clinical services to the community, but also offer opportunities for our physicians and support staff to provide health education in the community.
For information about a specific screening program, please call the appropriate specialty Division (clinical service) at the main phone number of its academic office.
