Dr. Sotiria Everett is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family, Population & Preventive Medicine’s Nutrition Division at the Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University. Since joining the faculty in 2016, she has taught extensively in the Graduate Nutrition Program, directing courses in macronutrients, micronutrients, and research methods, while serving as an academic advisor and preceptor to graduate nutrition students. Her teaching has been recognized with the 2022 CELT Teaching Excellence Award, and she was named a SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador that same year. She also serves as the founder and director of the Stony Brook Heights Rooftop Farm Kids Cooking Workshops, which teach young participants how to create and enjoy healthy meals using fresh garden produce. In 2019, she began providing comprehensive sports nutrition programming and counseling for student-athletes in collaboration with Stony Brook's Athletic Performance Department. Her diverse research interests span sports nutrition, gut health, cancer, and lifestyle medicine. 
 

Dr. Everett holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and earned both her Master of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), a New York State Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist, and a frequent media expert contributor to national outlets on public health nutrition and dietary guidelines. Deeply involved in professional and community service, she is the founder and director of the Stony Brook Heights Rooftop Farm Kids Cooking Workshops, a Research Committee Member for the American Sports and Performance Dietitians Association (ASPDA), and the Nominating Chair for the Greater New York and Long Island Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Downstate Region.
