Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency Application Process

<li><span>Selection of colorectal residents is made through the <a href="; target="_blank">National Resident Matching Program</a>.</span></li>

<li><span>Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensure Exam (<a href="; target="_blank">USMLE</a>) Step 3 by the second attempt or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Exam (<a href="; target="_blank">COMLEX</a>) Step 3 by the second attempt is required.</span></li>

<li><span>We are registered with the Electronic Residency Application Service (<a href="; target="_blank">ERAS</a>), which transmits residency applications, recommendation letters, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from medical schools to residency program directors using the Internet. <strong>Applications will only be accepted through this system.</strong></span></li>

<li><span>All applicants must be board eligible/certified in general surgery.</span></li>
<li><span>A personal interview is required.</span></li>
<li><span>Before the required interview takes place, three (3) letters of recommendation — one of which must be from the applicant's general surgery residency program director — are to be uploaded to the Electronic Residency Application Service (<a href="; target="_blank">ERAS</a>). </span></li>
<li><span><a href="; target="_blank">ABSITE</a> scores are required.</span></li>
