Kimberly Kranz

Dr. Kranz is associate program director of the Internal Medicine residency and chair of the Clinical Competency Committee

Dr. Kranz is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and an associate program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She completed her undergraduate education at Adelphi University in the Honors College in Garden City, NY and graduated in 2003 summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Dr. Kranz then received her medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2007. She went on to complete her internal medicine residency training, a chief resident year, and a geriatric medicine fellowship at Stony Brook. Dr. Kranz joined the department as faculty in July 2012 as an academic hospitalist and associate program director of the residency.  She is ABIM board certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine and became a fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2014. Her current clinical focus and interests surround geriatric education in the inpatient setting of students, residents, and fellows and working to improve the clinical care of the elderly overall. She is involved in QI/QA projects surrounding the efficacy of certain geriatric initiatives at Stony Brook. Dr. Kranz serves as the chair of the Clinical Competency Committee within the residency program. ​
